San Francisco City Government has for too long been too easily distracted from the issues that matter everyday to its residents, especially those of us in the northwestern part of th e City. Unless the goal of City government is to provide topics for right-wing radio and talk show hosts, it does not need a foreign policy. The City is long overdue in attending to the basic services its citizens need and expect.

• Quality local schools
• Safe, efficient public transportation
• Infrastructure maintenance & improvement, such as putting communications and power wiring underground

There may have been a time when there were enough resources to spend frivolously on programs that were new, different and edgy, but that time has passed.
